Dr. Pananis is involved in all areas of criminal law, serving as defence counsel, representing joint plaintiffs and advising witnesses. The focus of his work is representing individuals in complex cases in commercial and tax criminal law, for example in the Berlin Bank trials, the Leipzig Municipal Water Works trial and the BayernLB investigation. He also often acts in an advisory capacity.
Dr. Panos Pananis, born in 1967, has been practicing criminal defence law since 1999.
From 1995 to 1997 he was an assistant in the department of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Peter Cramer at Giessen University. After obtaining his doctorate for work in the field of criminal law and capital markets, he completed his legal traineeship in Berlin.
In 2003 he was one of the founding partners of the law office of Ignor Bärlein & Partners, which was selected as the JUVE commercial criminal law office of the year in 2007. The current law office emerged from this constellation in 2008.
Dr. Pananis is co-author of commentaries on the penal code (Münchener Kommentar zum StGB), on criminal procedure code (AnwaltKommentar StPO) and on European and German cartel law. He co-publishes a journal on criminal law (Zeitschrift Strafverteidiger Forum) and is a member of the advisory board of a journal on criminal law and liability in companies (Zeitschrift für Wirtschaftsstrafrecht und Haftung im Unternehmen).
