Stephan Fink Attonrey-at-Law Partner

Stephan has been advising and defending individuals nationwide in all areas of white-collar criminal law for 15 years. This includes the areas of core criminal law as well as ancillary criminal and administrative offense law, such as property crimes, criminal tax law, insolvency criminal law or violations of labor market or environmental regulations. He also specializes in advising corporate groups, medium-sized companies and associations as well as public companies on criminal and administrative offence law, including internal investigations.

He currently advises and defends national and international companies or their executives, e.g. from the automotive industry, the financial technology sector and technical plant engineering, in criminal and administrative offense proceedings, e.g. for violations of occupational health and safety and environmental law. He is also mandated in several of the so-called "cum-ex" criminal proceedings.

Stephan has been a member of the Board of the Berlin Bar Association since 2019. As a member of Department I of the Board, he is responsible for specialist lawyer admissions and the prevention of money laundering, among other things.

The Handelsblatt in cooperation with Best Lawyers recommends Stephan Finkt in the ranking "Germany's best lawyers" published in 2024 in the areas of white-collar criminal law and criminal tax law.

Biography

Stephan was born in Düsseldorf in 1978 and grew up in Moers (Lower Rhine). After receiving his higher education entrance qualification and completing community service undertaken as an alternative to military service in 1998, he studied law at Bielefeld University. While completing his legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court in Berlin, he worked for the partnership Freyschmidt Frings Pananis Venn as a legislative assistant. In 2009 Stephan began to practice criminal defence at the partnership Freyschmidt Frings Pananis Venn after completing his second state law examination. From 2017 to 2019 Stephan had been working as a Counsel in the law firm. Since 2019 he has been a partner in the firm.

Memberships

Stephen is a member of the Criminal Law Working Group of the German Bar Association, the Association of Commercial Criminal Lawyers (WisteV) and the Association of Berlin Criminal Defense Lawyers (Vereinigung Berliner Strafverteidiger*innen e. V.)

Since March 2019, Stephan has been a member of the Board of Rechtsanwaltskammer Berlin, where he is a member of Department I, dealing with specialist lawyer admissions and money laundering prevention.
